Think Spring {and Oranges!} - Easter Table scape
I am so excited it is the first day of Spring as I write this blog post! You know that I love all things holiday and so to celebrate I think we should put together a lovely spring table scape…with perfect timing to build something similar for your upcoming Easter celebrations! In this blog post I’ll take you step-by-step from bare table to a beautiful table that will WOW your guests and give you a big spring smile! {Bonus, you can also watch the table scape being built live in under 5 minutes on Hello Iowa. See the video here.}
Don’t worry, I’ve added the links to everything you are going to need at the bottom of this post! {And, REF links in the blog too for easy shopping to build your own table scape!}
Table scape details + layers:
Color palette - soft pinks and peachy oranges.
Surprise - We are using paperware so it will be easy for you to replicate at minimal cost and bonus no dishes!
Oranges - Oranges are the new lemons for spring! They’ll be a theme on this table scape that you are going to love…and I am quite certain you will be as obsessed as I am, especially after you try the orange dreamsicle cupcakes!
#1 - craft wrapping paper base:
I love this neutral color and texture for a base layer. My secret designer tip, this base layer is craft wrapping paper. Yes, wrapping paper. I roll it out, cut it to size and around the details of my tabletop and secure randomly with some double roll tape.
#2 - Cloth table runner:
I have a gray and white striped table runner I am using for this table scape to keep it neutral, but add some pattern. You can add in any table runner you would like. Do a coordinating spring color if you like color or I am also a big fan of a natural texture burlap runner too!
#3 - Live edge board:
To layer some of our center piece items, we are going to use a live edge board hand crafted by my talented hubby Jim. {P.S. He does custom board orders, so if you are interested…message me!}. I use this live edge board in layering for my décor or entertaining all the time.
#4 - Chargers:
I have several layers in my place settings. You do not need to do this many layers if you want to keep it simple or add as you build your table scape supplies. I love chargers {and suggest you start your own collection!}. I think they make any table scape look fancy and pulled together. I am layering two chargers for my base layer. The first one is a rattan charger layered with a neutral white charger with the prettiest scallop detailed edge.
#5 - Paper Plates:
Yes, we are making paperware look fancy! In our color palette with an orange theme, these plates were the color palette inspiration. I love the color combo of soft pinks and peachy oranges! And, the gold scalloped edge is the perfect little pop of fun!
#6 - Napkins:
We are using paper plates, but I decided to go with cloth napkins. When they are $12 for 12 you can splurge on real and reuse! If you follow me, you know I love a little buffalo check so these pink gingham napkins are the perfect pattern to compliment our floral pattern.
#7 - Silverware:
For silverware, we area also using plastic {no dishes!}. I tied the silverware around the napkin with a small piece of jute twine to make it look a little extra fancy for plastic silverware. I chose gold to compliment the gold ring around the plate.
#8 - Plastic Cup + Paper Straw:
Again, I opted for disposable to keep with my theme of no dishes. I chose a plastic cup with a gold ring to keep with our gold accent. And, I added a paper straw. I am obsessed with paper straws and always have a collection on hand. They make any party or drink feel extra special and festive!
#9 - Place Setting Name Markers:
I love the little details when I am entertaining and building table scapes. These are the little extras that add the WOW factor and make your guests feel extra special! These place markers are an adorable and easy DIY! I cut little leaves from sage green craft paper and wrote names on them. Then, I tagged them onto a real cutie orange with a small wooden push pin. How cute are these?!!!
#10 - Flowers:
Now that we have our place settings finished up, let’s move back to the middle of the table scape for our focal centerpiece. We’ll start with gorgeous spring flowers. I am was so excited to partner with my friend Kati Meyers, the owner of Walnut St. Flowers in Dallas Center, on this table scape creation. {If you are local, I know she can create something similar for your Easter table scape for you!} For floral choices Kati’s style is an eclectic cottage farmhouse look which is my style too we are two peas in a pod, which is why I love collaborating with her as my personal florist for This New Old House!}. She ran with the color palette of soft pinks and peachy oranges with color choices including pink nena roses, ranuculus, anemones, eucalyptus, and more! She chose clear pedestal vases for the three centerpiece arrangements and vintage white hob nob milk glass for the rest of the center piece runner arrangements. Love the mix of old and new!
You can find Walnut St. Flowers on FB @WalnutStFlowers or call the shop at 515.992.3266 to place a floral order.
#11 - Cupcakes:
To go with our orange theme, I enlisted the help of my favorite young entrepreneur and baker, my daughter Mallary owner of Zoey’s Cakes. She made me the most delicious orange dreamsicle cupcakes with orange butter cream frosting. I had never had an orange cupcake and I am obsessed! These are perfect for your Easter table scape and guests for something different, fresh and on trend. Orange is the new lemon for spring! Find the recipe for these cupcakes from The Creative Bite here: https://www.thecreativebite.com/orange-cupcakes/
You can follow Zoey’s Cakes {and also check out her candle business too!} on IG @zoeyscakes_candles16.
#12 - The Finishing Touches:
For final details for our center piece focal point, I tucked in fresh oranges {some whole and some cut in half} and some tea light candles.
